Household Effluent Disposal

Composting toilets do not obviate the need for a household waste water disposal. There is still a need to dispose of Grey Water (water from bathroom, kitchen and laundry) and leachate from the composting container. Household flows are however reduced on average by 45% and are less infected by not using a flushing toilet, so the soakage field can be made smaller and thus cheaper.

Effluent disposal will still require specialist advice to satisfy council requirements. Ultra-Violet purifiers are available, together with suggested plans for effluent disposal systems.

If you combine any of our Composting Toilet Systems with our unique UV-purifier, the effluent leaving the Grey Water system will be almost bacteria free, and able to be used for watering the garden.
