Waterless Toilets - This Is How It Works

The specially designed toilet pan separates body solids from the urine. The solids fall straight into the composting container, while the urine is drained off to a urine-tank or into the Grey Water System. The body solids are decomposed with the help of fresh air, natural heat and micro-organisms and earth worms.
The decomposition is an efficient natural process. The mass should be well aerated not saturated. The ventilation system ensures a constant air flow. The liquid drain, drains off excess liquid. Over a period of time the mass transforms into organic compost. Only 10% of the input - volume remains after the natural process of decay has taken place inside the composting container. The compost could be used in the garden as a perfect fertiliser.

Urine Separation & Composting Toilets

Urine Separation

By separating out the urine from the solids you increase the efficiency of the decomposition process.
Urine is separated by the urinal part of the toilet pan. The urine is very rich in nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium and it is bacteria free. This perfect fertiliser could be collected separately (in a dark and cool tank) for later use in the garden.
